The announcement trailer suggests Gears of War 3 will be the end, and Microsoft has now confirmed this to be true. However, while Gears 3 will be the final game in the Gears of War trilogy it doesn't mean we won't see more from the franchise in the future.

In a press release confirming the game's April 8, 2011 release date, Microsoft stated: "Gears of War 3 plunges players into a harrowing tale of hope, survival, and brotherhood that will conclude the current story arc for Gears of War."

It's the end all right, but only for the "current story arc". What follows is anyone's guess.

Do you guys expect more from the GeoW series? If so will it be on the 360? Or Microsofts future console?

Wow. So its a trilogy. I would have bought the first Gears of War yesterday if I had the money. But I bet it will be awesome still.

of course they said ARC so more games yes on the 360 who knows

Maybe they'll make another Gears of War in the future but in the Pendulum War era, or maybe it'll begin on Emergence day.

I'd be willing to be that after GOW3 is released Epic Games will start production on a second Gears trilogy using their next gen Unreal Engine 4 and develop it for Microsoft's next console. As great as Gears I think to Epic Games it's most valuable to them as a demonstration of the power of their game engine software and after 2011 this gen will be winding down as everyone preps for Microsoft's next gen hardware and the new Unreal Engine. Nobody gives a shit about what Sony does of course

Gears 4 will be for the next xbox with unreal engine 4. So i guess MS wanted Gears 4 and Halo 4 for the next xbox.

I would love to see a Gears of War prequal. Like during E-Day. I am going through and beating Gears 1 and 2 again
